Haruno Watanabe LIVE Saturday 1pm SLT at the Zodiac Ballroom
25/10/2009

Haruno Watanabe, has a Japanese origin with Boston Accent (she would like to think so but people call it "Japanese Haruno accent") living in the United States, has been classically trained since her childhood. She was a member of Tanglewood Festival Chorus, chorus group for Boston Symphony and Boston Pops for over 7 years. Singing has been always her passion in her life, but she stopped singing a couple years ago in real life because of some personal reasons. Then she found Second Life and has been having a blast singing and meeting other musicians from all over the world. She started singing again.
"Unlike her past experience singing Japanese folk music, Opera and Operetta, she sings showtune, Jazz Standards, Pops and Japanese pop on Second Life." That is what she said when she started singing at Second Life. She sang "O mio babbino caro", the beautiful opera aria at one of the concerts. Since then she has been asked to sing more opera arias by her fans. If requested, she will sing opera aria. She carefully picks songs that have beautiful lyrics and melody. Her friends describe her singing, "a voice pure like a crystal", "fragil and strong in music notes with all her emotion", "lovely and yet fearless sensation around her voice", and "just close your eyes and her voice will transport you far away."

Artist's Statement, Adelene Dawner
What should I say to explain my work? I do things, a wide variety of things, and some people consider some of them art. I'm less 'creating' and more 'translating', most of the time. I code: write computer programs. That's creating/translating just as much as 'art' is, but most people don't think of it that way. I also have a lot of friends that I talk to, often taking what I see about a person's thought pattern or behavior pattern and the results of those, and translating it back to words so they can see it. I brainstorm, and I'm good at figuring out how a thing can be done. I like explaining things to people, and I learn well enough that I can have something explained to me poorly and explain it to someone else well, especially if I have the opportunity to ask the original explainer for clarifications on unclear points.
Artist's Statement, Scottius Polke
Scottius Polke's focus is primarily assemblage/mixed media constructions, with occasional forays into more illustrative arts, such as ink and pastel. He first started exploring the medium of assemblage/found objects in college, thanks to the inspiration of one of his professors. Other influences from the art world have included mixed media artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Cornell and Anton Tapies.
Artist's Statement, Ronin1 Shippe
Ronin1 Shippe is an SL and RL artist, whose mediums include wood, clay, steel, and "painting" on the computer's virtual canvass. His SL paintings are studies in minimalism - Zen Impressionist works which strive to capture a mood, a moment, or a feeling - often whimsy - with only a minimal number of lines.
Artist Statement, Hope McAlpine
" A true artist knows thyself well as a teacher and is unfearful of challenge that is presented to them throughout their life and has the ablitly to translate their personal journey into a visual statement and thereby serve as an uplighting to others. Desire no need to copy others but love thyself well as an artist. "
Hope McAlpine have been blessed with gift of visual arts since birth, that has been given throughout her generatiion, from one to others. She discovered the meaning of art when she turned just three years old. Perhaps being born profoundly deaf further pushed her farther into a journey of life as an artist. Espeically while growing up with no means to communicate through writing, speaking, hearing or reading til she was about 8.
Hope McAlpine is the founder and Commander of Melissa's Blue Angel Police and Fire memorial Community Garden. The purpose of this memorial garden is to honor real life fallen police officers and firefighters and a place where people can come and reflect on fallens. Hope McAlpine currently studying for criminal justice. Law Enforcement is a big part of her real life.

My Barcelona Memories Photographic Art Exhibit
25/05/2009

When taking pictures in world, Shoji likes to create stories in his mind, enjoying a wonderful synergy between these two spheres. For that matter, he might be more of a scenario writer than a photographer. Of course it’s up to you what you read into his pictures; he would be glad if some of them could spark your imagination
Barcelona, be it real or virtual, is a place that provides Shoji with a number of materials for vivid stories – which is one of the reasons why he loves this port town so much.
